Requirements for participation:
1. 1st practice is Monday, Feb. 18. There is NO SCHOOL this day, but you will be required to show up at NOON.

2. You must have all forms turned in and athletic fee paid BEFORE you can workout. THERE ARE NO EXCEPTIONS!

3. ABSENCES: If sick, call office to leave a note in track box BEFOREHAND. If you're going to miss and you know it - let Coach know beforehand so Coach and you can plan a workout. If you come back after not telling us (i.e. unexcused) you get a WARNING. If it happens again, you sit out the next week.

4. EVERYONE must help in order to get our facilities in shape to start out our year. This year we will again hold everyone accountable to put in about 3 hours of maintenance on the grounds. This must be completed before you can compete, no exceptions. You will also be required to help the team in their effort in fund-raising. (track camp)

5.PRACTICE TIME: 20 min. after school ends. workout starts. This is at 3:35 p.m. If you are LATE you will not be allowed to compete in the next meet much the same as #3 absences.

6.Overt displays of frustration, anger, etc. are unacceptable. Cussing will not be tolerated. Think before you speak.

7. Hazing: Don't do it, you will be suspended.

8. Proper gear must be worn at all times. Everyone, regardless of the events you do, needs a good pair of running shoes with good cushion and support. Spikes and other shoes, high jump shoes, discus, javelin shoes, etc. are optional and if obtained need to be brought to practice daily. PROPER SWEATS must be worn to practice daily. Leave the meet sweats for meets. You are expected to show up to practice with full sweats if there is even a hint of cold weather. You WILL BE SENT AWAY if you don't have any sweats with you.

9. The Captains will gather the team at the Track directly after school to set up for home meets. You will get out of school early to help set up. The reason for the early-out is for set-up only. If you are roaming the halls this privilege will be revoked.

10.The team will be dressed in FULL UNIFORMS & TEAM ISSUED SWEATS at least one hour before the meet starts. The Captains will lead the entire team in a team warm-up. The team will already be dressed prior to bus departures in away meets. We will all show respect on the bus, to both the Driver and the bus itself. Any problems on the bus, and you don't compete in the meet and possibly future meets.

11. NO BOOM BOXES allowed on the bus or in the stands at meets. NO EXCEPTIONS.

12. Under no circumstances can you leave with another student at an away meet, even with a note. Do not drive yourself to a meet. When at a meet, please DO NOT ask to leave with your parents. (We will say no!) This woulld be the same as in any other sport as well. Expect to be a part of the team at all times, this includes travel.

13. Remember that you are representing DHS. Behave in an appropriate manner that will not reflect poorly to yourself, the school, the program, the Coaches and your teammates.

14. Only those that qualify for the State meet will earn the trip down to the meet. If you do not qualify, you are on your own the entire time down there if you come to watch.

15. SCRATCHING FROM EVENTS will only be determined by you and your Coach TOGETHER. If you fail to make it for one of your events, you will be scratched for the next meet! If it happens twice you will be asked to leave the team. This sounds harsh, but it is very dishearting as a Coach to work hard to fill all slots and have someone "blow it off" an eventbecause they don't feel like it. This does not include injury or sickness.

16.Warm up: You MUST be properly warmed-up and stretched prior to your event. With about 100 people on this team it is impossible for the Coaches to dictate and keep track of everyone's warm-up routines. Please be on top of this. Know your event schedule.

17. Academic responsibilities: School is one of the only things that will ever take precedence over Track. Always be on top of your school work, so that we don't have a conflict between school and track. Keep your priorities straight! If you are having trouble in class, come talk to your Coach, and something hopefully can be figured out. Don't wait 'till the last minute. Deal with it before it becomes a problem.
